Lakes and rivers
In the department known as the land of a thousand lakes there are plenty to explore . Whether you like swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, water skiing there is so much to do for everyone. Here are just a few of the lakes which offer activities but there are many more where you can just
take a stroll or a longer walk.

Walking and cycling
If you are looking for somewhere new to cycle or walk, to capture the freedom reminiscent of your youth, the roads, lanes, and byways of the Haute Vienne is an excellent choice.
More than 2,000 km of marked paths criss-cross the countryside and many suitable for both
walkers and cyclists.

Markets Days & Brocantes
Brocantes, vide grenier, vide maison are all part of the French culture. Loosely translated they are the equivalent to second-hand shops, boot-fairs, and garage sales. Many bargains,
including antiques, can be found and if you have space for larger items, they can be purchased for a much-reduced price.
There are brocantes dotted all over France and listed below are a few of the local ones, but we are fortunate that there is also a fabulous Aladdin’s cave called Maximum just a 10
minute drive away from the Chateau. In the spring and summer, you will see roadside signs advertising vide grenier (empty attic) and vide maison (empty house) and organised
brocantes. Stop and browse and you will find a bargain or two.
